Admission ten cents, The Remore hotel building is among the structures on Bel- trami avenue that will be raised to conform to the requirements of the new grade on the streets. Bemidji people will remember Miss Ida Root Gordon as the lady who gave a recital at the Presbyterian church June 17, 1908. She is remembered as one who gave satisfaction, and those present were pleased with the entertainment. Jessie Dade, president of the village council of Blackduck, came in on the M. & I. this morning and was an interested spectator at the races this after- noon. “Uncle” George Wetzel of Tenstrike was among the many residents along the north line of the M. & I. who came to the city this morning to spend the day with friends. J. F, Stack of Northome passed through the city this morning on the M. & L., enroute to Brainerd. He stopped here long enough to partake of breakfast at the Markham hotel. Northome is to have a fair Oc- tober 2. All kinds of field and garden products will be exhibited and there will be a department where fruits, jams and dairy products will be shown. A. A. Goodrich, the northern Minnesota representative of the Carpenter-Lamb company, went to Park Rapids this morning on business for his company. He will return to Bemidji this evening, Frank Tuffts, deputy United States marshal, came in yester- day evening from St. Paul and spent the night in the city. Mrs. D. H. Eastman left this morning for her home in St. Paul. She has been a Bemidji visitor during the major portion of the past summer and occupied one of the cottages at Grand Forks bay. She is an old friend of the family of Graham M. Dampier of Akeley, who won the republican nomination for county attorney of Hubbard courty at the recent primary election, spent yesterday and last night in Bemidji. As noone was nominated on the democrat’c ticket, Mr. Dampier will have no opposition to his clection as the legal representative of Hubbard, at the November election. - He states that Akeley is enjoying a nice, steady growth, no boom at all, but business is good, the big sawmill is runniag to full capa- city and there is plenty of work for all classes of laboring men.
