Carson returned last evening from Rochester, where he underwent an operation, at the Mayo hospital, for appendix adhesion. He states that he went through the ordeal nicely and that he is feeling very well and expects to soon be in better health than he has enjoyed for years. Dr. Foster left yesterday after- noon for Fosston and will go from there today to the White Earth reservation for a few days’ hunt. He will be joined at Fosston by L. W. This will complete the hoisting for th: Red River company along this line. A. W. Layman, special agent for the general U. S. land office at Washington, came in yester- day from Duluth, and will look after some affairs for the land dopartment in this vicinity. He expects to be here for four or five days. Mr. Layman has been in Michigan for several weeks past, doing some special work for the government.
