The gemal “Growler’” doesn’t feel half so bad about it as we do. Men interested in the nomina- tion of good candidates for gov- ernor and good candidates for other state offices should turn out to the caucuses June 2. The Minneapolis Tribune is authority for the statement that Senator Stephens will get a portion of the Hennepin county delegation to Duluth, Stephen’s popularity is growing all over the state and” he is going to have more support from outside the Ninth district than is generally supposed. One thing the papers that are shouting for Jacobson and Cole have not been able to take ex- ception to when discussing Stephens, and that is that the Ninth district man is the most energetic hustler cf the seven who would head the republican ticket. The State Press Crookston Times: There is food for thought for Minnesota republicans in the criticism which the Windom Republican aims at Governor Johnson for his endorsement of Bryan for the presidency. The Republi- can, which has strong Johnson leanings, says that the governor must remember that he cannot be elected except by “republican votes and therefore he must quit making democratic candidates for president. Pretty state of affairs isn’vit? Governor John- son certainly can’t be elected without demccratic votes. If he refuses to be democratic to please the Republican, he will in all ‘human probability, cause hard feelings among the democrats. If the Republican wantsa gov- ernor with republican principles why does it not favor the election of a republican instead of a dem- ocrat. Read the Daily Pioneer.
