Min as second class matter. SAMUEL G: IVERSON, the pres- ent state auditor; has announced himself as a candidate for re-elec- tion, and that he will hold the office for another four years is taken as a matter of fact. Long experience with the detail work of the auditor’s office while serv- ing as Robert C. Dunn’s deputy has fitted Mr. Iverson for the position as no other man in Min- nesota has been fitted. There is nothing to know of thestate audi- tor’s office that Mr. Iverson does not know, and his service in the past four years, during -which time many questions of greatim- portance have confronted him, he has demonstrated that he has great ability as well as excellent judgment in matters of state. Many Cases of Scarletina. State Health Officer Blakeslee returned this morning from the vicinity of Houpt, where he was called to attend to a number of cases of scarletina, Dr. Blakes- lee states that the disease has spread rapidly in that section and that in one locality west of Houpt there are 16 cases. The disease attacks only children, and some of the smaller ones, the ;ifi)ctor says, are very seriously Wo(;dsman Goes Insane. Joseph Fiszwater, a woodsman employed at the J. A. Fur- thermore, from' the ‘formula printed on every bottle wrapper, it will be seen that these- medicines contain no_alcohol or other habit-forming drugs. Neither do they- contain any narcotics or injurious agents, their ingredients being ‘purely vegetable, extracted from the roots: of medicinal plants found growing in the depths of our American forests and of well recognized curative virtues. Instead of alcohol, which even in small portions long continued, as in obstinate cases of diseases, becomes highly objec- tionable from its tendency to produce a craving for stimulants, Dr. Pierce em- ploys chemically pure, triple - refined glycerine, which of itself is a valuabla- remedy in many cases of chronic diseases, being ‘a superior demulcent, antisepfic, antiferment and supporting nutrit{ve. It enhances the curative action of the Golden Seal root. Stone root, Black Cherrybark and Bloodroot, contained in “Golden Medical Discovery,” in all bron=- chial, throat and lung affections attended with severe coughs. As will be seen from the writings of the eminent Drs. Grover Coe, of New York; Bartholow, of Jeffer- son Medical College, Phila.; Scudder, of Cincinnati; Ellingwood, of Chicago; Hale, of Chicago, and others, who stand as leaders in their several schools of practice, the foregoing agents are the K/ best ingrédients that Dr. Pierce could have c?msen to make up his fa- mous “Discovery” for the cure of not affec- only bronchial, ‘throat and lung a in all tions, but also of chronic catarr its various forms wherever located. WILL KEEP GEN. BLACKFORD HERE Dr. Warninger Decides to Re- tain Famous Stallion in £ Bemidji NextSummer. Dr. Warninger reports that he will keep General Blackford in Bemidji the entire season of 1906 which will be a treat to breeders of the light harness horse, The American trotter and pacer, General Blackford, has proven himself a great sire. This fact can not e disputed. He is the sire of Mixer, record 2:16} at the age of four years with but three months professional training. Mixer was bred by G. F. Francis and foaled right here in Bemidji. This is proof that we can breed }n.s good stock in Bemidji as any-i ‘wherein the world if we use good sires and dams. Mixer has stepped quarters faster than a 2:00 gate and is considered by intelligent horsemen the greatest performer ever bred in the state of Minnesota. Horsemen here also expect great performances from Vonie X, the property of J. J. Jinkinson, also of Bemidji. SUCCUMBS TO INJURIES George Erskine of Crookston Dies From Gaso- line Explosion.
