OTHER What is More Beautiful than a Mother’s Love * YWho ran to help me when I fell And would some pretty story tell, . Or kiss the place to make it well, i My mother.” * A mother’s worries ‘are many. She sometimes forgets her own bodily dis- comforts because of her overpowering love for the child. She becomes broken .down, sleepless, nervous, irritable and feels tired from morning until night. |Many mothers of experience can tell you 1that at.such a time they have been re- ilieved, benefited and strengthened and put into proper health by taking a pre- seription which their mothers had told them was the best woman’s tonic and nervine to be taken at such times. Dr. Pierce’s Favorite Prescription has en- joyed an enviable reputation for over a third of a cenfiur{. In all that time it has sold more largely in the United States than any other tonic for woman’s needs, and to-day its sales are greater than ever. Dr. Pierce made u i prescription from native medicinal roots without the use of a particle of alcohol and for the single purpose of curin fhose diseases peculiar to women ang when there is a lack of womanly strength to bear the burdens of maternal duty. How few: women come to this critical time with adequate strength. The reason why so many women sink under the strain of motherhond is be- cause they are unprepared. Is pre- garamon then required for mother- 00d? asks the young woman. And eve experienced mother answers —“Yes.” I unhesitatingly advise ex- ectant mothers to use Doctor Pierce’s 'avorite Prescription,” writes Mrs. J. W. G. Stephens, of Mila, Va. The rea- son for this advice is that Dr. Pierce’s Favorite Prescription is_the best pre- parative for the maternai function. - No matter how healthy and strong a woman may be, she cannot use “Favorite Pre- scription” as a preparative for ma- ternity without gain of health and comfort. But it is the women who are not strong who best appreciate the great benefits received from the use of *Fa- vorite Prescription.” For one thing its use makes the baby’s advent practically painless. It has in many cases reduced days of suffering to a brief few hours: It has changed the period of anxiety and struggle into a time of ease and comfort. e ‘ A DUTY WOMEN OWE THEMSELVES. ®Good actions speak louder than words,” 8o, too does the testimony of many thousands of women during a third of a century speak louder than mere claims not backed by any such record of cures. Miss Emma Petty, 1126.8. Olive Street, Indianapolis, Ind., Past Vice-President, Daunghters of Pocahontas, Minneola Council, also Organist, South Baptist Church, Indianapolis, writes: *For sev- eral Kears I suffered with leucorrhcea, which was a serious drain on my vitality, #apping my strength and causing severe headaches, bearing-down pains and a eneral worn-out feeling, until I really ad no desire to live. I had man: medicines recommended to me and trieg many, but did not get permanent relief until I took Dr. Pierce’s Favorite Pre- gcription. - In two months I was much better and stronger, and in four months I was well. (Have had no more disagree- able discharge, no more Pain; so I have every reason to praise ‘Favorite Pre- | scription, ; equal for ills of women.” : consider it All the ingredients enteri to Dr. Pierce’s Favorite Prescriplggn are printed in plain English on each bottle 2 Pierce thereby shows that :he.is not. afraid 4o+tell his patients just what this medicine i mlse of, - This ig not true of any other medicine espe- cially designed for the cure of woman’s . peculiar ailments. This “Prescription” 18 also the only woman’s medicine sold through druggists that does not con- tain a large percentage of alcobol; it - contains not a drop. { . As an indication of the high esteem in which the medical profession are coming to regard the several ingredi- ents of which Dr. Pierce’s Favorite Pre- scription, for weak and ailing women is com¥oaed, .we have room here to in- sert only the following: ) Dr. John Fyfe, of gaugatuck, Conn., Editor of the Department of Therapeu- tics in THE ELECTRIC REVIEW says of Unicorn root (Helonias Dioica) one of the chief ingredients of Dr. Pierce’s Fa- vorite Prescription: *A remedy which invariably acts as a uterine invigorator and always favors a condition which makes for normal activity of the entire reproductive system, cannot fail to be of great usefulness and of the utmost importance to the general practitioner of medicine.” “In Helonias we have a medicament which more fully answers the above purposes: than any other drug with which I am acquainted. In the treat- ment of diseases peculiar to womer. it is seldom that a case is seen which does not present some indication for “this remedial agent.” “The following are among the lead- ng indications for Helonias: Pain or aching in the back, with leucorrhcea; atonic (weak) conditions of the repro- ductive organs of women, mental de- pression and irritability, associated with chronic diseases of the reproduc- tive organs of women, constant sensa- tion of heat in the region of the kidneys: menorrhagia, (“flooding”) due to a weakened condition of the reproductive system; amenorrheea, arising from or accompanying an abnormal condition of the digestive organs and an ansmic (thin 'blood) habit; dragging sensations in the extreme lower part of the abdo- men.” If more or less of the above symp- toms are present, no invalid women can do better than take Dr. Pierce’s Favorite Prescription, one of the leading ingredients of which is Unicorn root, or Helonias. MEN AND WOMEN should have a medical book handy, for knowledge is power. They should know about anatomy and physiology. They should have a book that treats of the sexological relations of both sexes out of and in wedlock, as well as how and when to advise son and daughter. Has unequaled endorsement of the Fress, ministry, legal and medical pro- essions. The main cause of unhappi- ness, ill-health, sickly children, and divorce is admitted by physicians' and shown by court records to be the vio- lation of the laws of self and sex. ' 5 > INDUSTRIAL INSURANCE. Resolution Proposes Special Legis- § lative Investigation. Albany, N. Y., Feb. 2" —Industrial insurance, concerning which the spe- cial legislative insurance investigating committee which has just reported made no recommendation, will be sub- Jjected to a special legislative inquiry if a joint resolution introduced in the senate during the day is adopted. Al- though a section of the insurance re- port was devoted to companies doing an' industrial insurance business ‘the committee did not see fit to recom- mend the enactment of any law pro- hibiting it, stating that the reasons for the insurance as advanced by those engaged in it seemed practical and rather overcome the sentimental ob- jections urged against it. The critics of ' industrial insurance have alleged that the poor are robbed by exor- bitant weekly premiums, -manifold greater than those of ordinary insur- ance. THIRTY HURT IN BLAST. Pitteburg, Feb. 2_.—Thirty persons were hurt, three of whom will die, by the ‘explosion of a %00-pound charge of dynamite, which was struck by a steam shovel at the Carnegie Steel company’s plant at Duquesne.
