Itis proper that the 22nd day of each February should be set apart as a holiday that the people of the United States may look back a century |and a quarter and see what trials and sufferings were endured, not only by Washington, but by the soldiers of the revolution, that liberty ‘might be secured and handed down to future genera- tions., . B b el Pew realize the 'debt of grati- tude that the people of the pres- ent generation owe . to. Washing- ton. A soldier whose ability has ibeen declared greater than that of Napoleon, a statesman who ac- complished things,George Wash- ington was the right man in the right place when he guided the American army to victory and af- terwards took the president’s chair and set the machinery of a nation in motion. The example of manhood set by ; Washington makes better not A|only the country in which he lived, but in tfact the entire iworld, and although many new | stars may rise and set the mem- 1|ory of George Washington will be green in the minds of people i from the north, east, south or west as long as there is a wuni- verse. Jurius BLock, the present jstate treasurer, will be a candi- date for the republican nomina- tion for .governor at the next state convention. Mr. Block has served the state as treasurer for several’ terms, is well known throughount Mionesota and in the jevent of bis nomination would undoubtedly make an excellent run against the present Dewmo- cratic incumbent. That the roots of many native plants, +-growing” wild ‘in_ our American- forests, possess remarkable properties for the cure ofihumn.n,gmladigs s well:proven, Even the untutored Indian had learned the curative value of some.of these and t.a.ufht. the early settlers their uses. The Indian neyer liked work so he wanted his s%nmw to get well as soon as she t well as soom as possible that might'do the'work and let him hunt. Therefore, he dug “papoose root ” for her, for that was their great r y-for fe- male weaknesses. ' 'Dr. Pierce uses the same root—call tue osh—in - his I “Favorite Prescription,” skillfully’ com-= bined with other agents that make it more effective than any other medicine in curing all -the various weaknesses and painful derangemehts peculiar 't women; Many afflicted women have ‘beén saved from the operating ‘table ‘and’ the ‘sur- i‘enn’s knife by the timely use of Doctor: ierce’s Favorite Prescription.’ Tender- ness over the lower (fnelvic region, with backache, spells of dizziness, faintness, bearing down pains or distress should‘not go unheeded. A course of “Favorite Pre- scngtmn" will work marvelous benefit in all such cases, and generally effect ‘a permanent cure if persisted in for a rea- sonable length of time. The “Fayorite Prescription” is a _harmless agens, bein wholly prepared from native medicinal roots, without a drop of alcohol in its thake up, whereas all other medicines, put up for sale through druggists for woman’s peculiar ailments, contain large quantities of spirituous liquors, which are very harmful, especially to delicate women. “Favorite Prescription” con- tains neither alcohol nor harmful habit- forming drugs. All its ingredients are printed on each bottle wrapper. It is a gowerful invigorating tonic, imparting ealth and strength in particular to the organs distinctly feminine. For weak and sickly women, who are “worn-out,” or debilitated, especially for women who work in store, office, or school-room, who sit at the typewriter or sewing machine, or bear heavy household burdens, and for nursing mothers, Dr. Pierce’s Favorite Prescription will %rove a priceless benefit because of its health - restoring and strength-giving power. For constipation, the true, scientific cure is' Dr. Pierce’s Pleasant Pellets. Mild; harmless, yet sure. OFFICIALS WILL FIGHT ACTION. City of Latonia, Ky.. Annexes the La- tonia Racetrack.
