RELATE TERRIFYING Vienna, Dec. 8.—Dispatches re- ceived here from Lemberg say that large numbers of Russian refugees are coming in daily. There are 800 of ! them at Cracow. They all give excit- ¢ ing, terrifying accounts of the occur- rences in Russia. Many of the refu- ;gees formerly were men of consider- able wealth and standing, but they i left everything behind and now are almost reduced to beggary. The people of Lemberg deciare that murders and rioting continue at Kieff. The refugees who have arrived at Podwoloczyska say that excesses against the Jews have occurred at Schmerynka and Serbinowow. No de- tails are given. Trains from Odessa and Kieff are ‘now arriving at Podwoloczyska on time. Messages and telegrams are be- ing forwarded by the railroad. GIVEN LIGHT SENTENCE. Men Accused of -Attempting to Black mail Armour. Chicago, Dec. 8.—William McSawin and Wilbur Cole pleaded guilty to the charge Q'E conspiracy to extort money from Armour & Co. and were sen- tenced each to thirty days in jail. The men were accused of attempting to ob- - tain money from Armour & Co. be- czuse of certain letters which they had taken from the company and whith they claimed would be valu able to the government in the prose cution of the beef trust cases. No testimony was taken nor were the let ters offered evidence. WOMEN SKATERS RESCUED. Students From lowa University Save Two From Drowning. Iowa City, Ia., Dec. 8.—Mrs. Star buck, wife of Dr. E. D.
