Anstett irepresents a Duluth coffee hovse jand takes orders direct from consumers with the understand- .ing that he shall return in a reasonable length of time to de- liver the goods and receiye his pay. He tock orders at Walker about a month ago and when he attempted to deliver the goods be was arrested and loaged in jail. He secured bail and em- ployed an attorney and when the case came up yesterday it was dismissed, the defendant’s at- torney raising the point that the legal definition of a peddler is jone who sells his samples. is the day we all en B Store Ihanksgiving joy good things to eat and drink, but every day at in Dry Goods, Ladies’ ing and Notions, SPECGIA I Watch our GlHe Bazaar Store vou will find the very best of everything and Gents Furnish- add for VALUES Seehat 5 | " u mmwmmm AT J. SUBSTANTIAL GROWTH PRE- DICTED FOR THE CITY. More Briek Blocks Erected in Past Season Than in Any Previous Year. Pessimists may look upon Be- midjias a ‘“lumberjack town,” may say that after the timber is cut off the town will die out ina short time and be forevermore a “dead one,” but there are at least a few men with plenty of capital who are and have for the past few months been showing ina sub- stantial manner that they believe in the city’s future prosperity and as a result the next assess- ment of the city of Bemidji will show a material increase. The past building season has been a remarkable one. During the past summer there have been no less than four new handsome Frick and stone buildings erect- ed, two more are now under con- struction and another will ke built as soon as the frost leaves the ground next spring. It is estimated that the value of the improvements made in the city during the past six months is at least $100,000. Followingis correct table of figures giving the cost of the improvements already made, the cost of buildings now under construction and the cost of those to be coustructed in the near fature: COMPLETED. Rifty i thousand dollars would be a con- servative estimate of the value of the latter improyements, so that the total would be brought up close to $150,000.
