THE republicans who bolted the republican ticket last fall so far as the governorship was con- cerned will not have much to say in naming the next republican candidate—at least, notif they expect that candidate to be elected. However thoroughly the bolting republicans may have felt themselyes justified, their action in bolting has put upon them the suspicion of disloyalty. For this reason the next repub- lican candidate for governor ought to hail from the northern part of the state, this section of the state having been far more loyal than any other. Northern Minnesota has several men who would make first class governors, Prominent among these are Senator A. D. j |Stephens of Crookston, Repre- sentative A. L. Cole of Walker and C. D. Warner of Aitkin, All of these men have proved their ability and have ! \rendered distingvished services [ to the state. | would be generally acceptable to ‘ the state and auy one of them {|could command the united vote Any one of them of the party. THOsE who are so fond of de- nouncing the agrieultural pos- sibilities of Beltrami county ?|should meditate on the fact that, 1 farmer’s institutes in this connty iare better attended than in most of the counties of the state. Bel- trami county farmers are laying a broad foundation and the day will come when farming in Bel- trami county will be more profit- able than farming in the Red River Valley. In 2 heavily timbered country like this clear- ling the land for the plow is a heavy task and one thatis but slowly accomplished, but once the farm is made it will produce crops that for variety and luxur- iance totally eclipse anything which the prairie has yet to its credit. There are no large farms in Beltrami county but there are a large number of small ones that are better tilled and more pro- ductive proportionately than any farm in the famous Red river valley. that thbughb the charter would give IT SEEMS all parts of the city equal repre- sentation, we figured without Colds It should be borne in mind that every cold weakens the lungs, low- ers the vitality and prepares the system for the more serious . dis- * eases, among which are the two greatest destroyers of human life, pneumonia and consumption. Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy has won its great popularity by its prompt cures of this most common ailment. It aids expectoration, re- lieves the lungs and opens the secretions, effectirig a speedy and permanent cure. It counteracts any tendency toward pneumonia. Price 25¢, Large Size 50c.
