FREE MAIL DELIVERY Probable That System Will Be Installed in Bemidji in Short Time. POSTOFFICE INSPECTOR VISIT- ED THE CITY YESTERDAY. Inspector Will Return Next Week to Look Up Sidewalks and Street Numbers. Postoffice inspector Howard Frye of Washington, D. C., was in the city yesterday on business connected with the proposed in- stallation of a tree mail delivery system in Bemidji. Mr. Frye did not make an inspection of the city on his visit here at that time but said that he would return next week to look over the city and determine whether or not its sidewalks, lights and street and house numbering were up to the postoffice department’s require- ments. It is important that every house should be numbered before | the arrival of the inspector next! week, as the inspector’s report will practically decide whether or not Bemidji is entitled to free delivery. Postmaster Carsoni urges all residents of the city to see that their buildings are num- bered as soon as possible, TRADUCER STOLE AWAY Attempted Arrest of Alex-: ander Taylor by Sheriff Bailey Endsin Failure. Sheriff Bailey returned last night from points in Michigan, | where he went some time ago to! effect the arrest of Alexandar Taylor, accused of haying im- proper relations with Bessie Conat of Funkley, aged 13, with whom he eloped to Michigan last fall. TOM JOHNSON GOT CONTRACT Bemidji Man Will Erect Building for the Hamm Brewing Company. Thomas Johnson was today awarded the contract for the con- struction of the new brick block to be erected on Third street by the Humm Brewing company of St. Paul. Work on the building was commenced this afternoon and the block must be completed by TFeb. 1. 1906. The building will teatwo story brick with full basement and will be used for saloon purposes. Ed Martin, an Indian, Joseph Salisbury and John Dolan were arraigned this morning before Judge Pendergast on charges of drunkenness.
