CARTER is selected mayor of Bemidji next Tuesday:it will be because the people of Bemidji have been systematically de- ceived by his supporters. Every voter who is asked to vote for Mr. Carter should look véry carefully into the reasons given in Mr. Carter’s support; in nearly every instance, if notin every one, he will find that an attempt has been made to deceive him. The recent rejection of the $10,000 bonds is given as an instance. Mr. Carter’s friends declare that the bonds were rejected because the city charter recently adopted is defective, the inference being that Mr. Gibbons’ supporters having adopted a faulty charter are not fit to be entrusted with the affairs of the city. The facts are exactly opposite. It is because of the negligence of Mr. Carter’s supporters that-the bonds were not issued. Be- cause the village recorder and the village .attorney mneglected to maks out the necessary papers in time the bond company-refused to put up the money. To show the true facts and to show also the attempt which has bzen made to deceive the people of Bemidji in this matter we quote what the “Dally Times,” the annonymous political sheet which is supporting Mr. Carter for mayor, has to say of the bond issue in its paper of Friday last: : Let every pperson read and jndge for himself: What the Bord. The letter above quoted declares that the bond company twice appealed for the necessary papers to the village recorder and that Ithe company cannot furnish the money for the bonds because these i papers, the transcripts of the proceedings of the village council, ‘“are still incomplete.” Who is to blawe? We submit that a man who cannot go before the people and ask for their votes upon his merits, but has to resort to such deception to be elected, is not worthy of anybody’s vote. When you buy a Clothcraft suit you can safely wager every dollar you have in the world that there is not a thread _ of anything but wool in it. 1t is pure selfishness which dictates this all-wool policy. The millions of dollars worth of Clothcraft Clothes sold every year could not possibly be sold if Clothcraft overcoats, and suits, had not the shape- retaining and long-wearing qualities of all-wool fabrics to back up their superb style and perfect tailoring. The illustration gives as good an idea as can be given in a newspaper of the beautiful lines of the Clothcraft Surtout frock overcoat. This overcoat is the masterpiece of the best designer that ever laid out a ; Bemidyji. sed the accident and taken aboard the train unhurt safe for a good ducking. . Visited Schools Yesterday. County Superintendent of Schools J. J. Regan returned last night from up the line of the Minneapolis, Red Lake & Mani- toba railway, where he spent vesterday visiting schools. Mr. Regan visited the two schools in district No 39 and onein district| No. 56. He states that the schools are in good condition and that the work being accomplished is entirely satisfactory. Markham Improvements. The work of improving the Markham hotel has been com- menced and when completed the hotel will present a much neater interior appearance than hereto- fore. The service at the hostelry is also being improved, anumber of new employes being added to the already large force of the hotel. Reward of $25.
