' \ | TAXES ARE COMING SLOW Small Property Owners Show Hesitancy in Paying Realty Taxes. According to County Treas- urer French, the. payments of the last half of the current real ‘estate tax are coming in slowly. The individual owners of small parcels of property show a hesi- tancy in making payments and ‘as yet there have been few prop- erty owners to pay up except the large lumber companies, most of which have already. paid their; faxes. The last half of the cur- "rent realty tax is due Nov. 1, and if not paid upon that date a 10 per cent penalty is added. A, T. Wheelock went to Kelli- her last night witha crew of men for the R. E. Dr. Pierce’s tis- sue-rebuwilding and ;| Sunction-strengthening plan of treatment is following after Natwre’s plan. He uses natural remedies, that is native medicinal roots, prepared by processes wrought out by the expenditure of much time and money, without the use of alco- hel, and by skillful combination in the most exact proportions. Used as one of the active ingredients of Dr. Pierce’s Golden Medical Discovery, BLACK CHERRYBARK specially exerts its influence in_cases of lung ‘and bronchial troubles, and this *DISCOVERY ” is, there- fore, a sovereign remedy for bronchitis, laryngitis, chronic coughs, catarrh and kindred ailments. - The names of the medicinal ingredients of this world-famous remedy are: ' Golden Seal root, Queen’s root, Stone root, Black Cherrybark, Bloodroot and Man- drake root. " “I have had such a wonderful experience with Dr. Pierce’s Golden Medical Discovery that I do not hesitate to recommend it, be- lieving it to be a wonderful medicine to build up the tissues of the system,” writes Miss Bessie Brown, Secretary Emerson Literary Association, 426 Kerman Avenue, Appleton, | Wis. “Worry and nervous troubles had com- letely run-down my health and strength; had no appetite, sle?c badly, and was in a state of nervous collapse. = I took twelve bottles in all, and, each week, knew that I was getting better and stronger, until finally I was as well and strong as I had ever been. I have the utmost faith and confidence in your medicine, and wish to thank you for my good health, which is a blessing to anyone.” For 21 one-cent stamps to cover cost of mailing, you can get a free copy of the "Common Sense Medical Adviser,” paper- covers; or cloth-bound for 31 Q%mes. THERE is a great deal at stake in the present municipal cam- paign in Bemidji. On the one hand we find the business inter . ests quite solidly ‘arrayed in favor of the election to office of men who stand for nothing bus good government, on the other hand ewe find a well known- fac- tion desperately endeavoring to retain its hold on political power. It may - pay the people of Be- midji to contrast the methods of these - two elements. ness men appeal to the voters of Bemidji to vote for the candidates which theyhave nominated by petition en the ground that they are men who are honest, able and stand for nothing but the city’s best interest. The other element however, makes no appeal$ it serves notice, through the office of the county attorney, which it controls, to certain powerful.in- terests of Bemidji, ‘“Vote for the candidates we have named or it will be the worse for you.” When such a condition con- fronts the people of a city, what shall they do? Shall they listen to the appeal of the business man whose every interest is the linterest of the whole city, or shall they listen to the threats of a faction, whose only interest is the * political power which they members of that faction may be able to exercise? < The fight which the business men are making for good gov- ernment has forced this faction to put forward as their candi- dates men of probity and ability. But the principal upon which they stand as candidates is utter- ly wrong and every man in this city knows it. On the one hand we have busi- £: | ness methods saying to us,*Vote for our candidates and we will build up a great city.” On the other hand we have factionalism saying to us, *‘Vote against us and we will destroy you,” Let the man who is coerced by self interest vote with faction- |alism; the man who has the wel- fare of the city ai heart will vote for business methods i public affairs. A PROMINENT business man declared at last night’s mass meeting that he had rather work for $26per month in the woods than be commanded how to y‘o'te. If everyone in Bemidji felt the f same, the prostitution of public office to political .ends would be a: thing of exceedingly short EASE ELEGANCE EXCELLENCE IN EVERY DEPARTMENT OF THE "Two Overland Trains OF THE Great Northern Railway “THE COMFORTABLE WAY”!
