Secretary Shaw Will Recommend an : Issue for $60,000,000. * Washington, Oct. 17.—Secretary of the Treasury Shaw, in his coming an- nual report, will recommend that bonds be issued to the amount of $60,000,000, running for a period of thirty years, covening the outlay already made on the Panama canal. Before the canal is completed not less than $200,000,000 will have been expended. By issuing bonds for the money al- ready expended the hole which has been eaten into the treasury will be filled up again and the talk of a threat- ened deficit will disappear for a num- ber of years. Fourteen Passengers Injured: Pueblo, Colo.,, Oct. 17.—Fourteen passengers, one of whom may die, were injured by the wrecking of the westbound St. Louis-Denver fiyer on the Missouri Pacific railroad near Su- gar City, sixty miles east of Pueblo. Miss Flo Huck spent Saturday in Bemidji and oa her return was accompanied by her brother, Master Severne Huck. Fort Worth, Tex., Oct. 17.—Former Governor J. S. Hogg is ill at a hotel here of dropsy. He was en route to a health resort when he had to stop. The former governor weighs over 300 pounds and his physicians say unless he is tapped at once he cannot sur- vive.
