The crew of men employed on the Minneapolis, Red Lake & Manitoba railway by the Halvor- son-Carlson company is now working on a sink hole which has been found just north of mud lake. Richard Hawkes returned last night from Devils Lake, Lari- more, Emerado, Arvilla and other points in North Dakota, where he secured a large number of: men for the Red River Lumber company at Akeley, Mr, Hawkes expects to return to North Da- kota ina few days to employ more men for the company. Monday is Labor Day. Next Monday, Sep. 4, has been designated by Gov. Johnson as Labor Day. It is not expected that the day will be generally observed in Bemidji, and up to the present time no program has been prepared. The Pioneer will - | issue no paper on that day.
