Nichols against A. L. Gordon, as administrator of the estate of Joseph Michaud, deceased, was filed today. The supreme court affirms the decision- of Judge «f Probate Clark, who denied the claim of W. H. Nichols of $1,000 for money loaned to Michaud. The case was appealed from the probate court to district court and twice to the state su- preme court with the final result that the decision of Judge Clark is upheld. The Wadena base ball team will play a game with Bemidji on the local grounds next Sunday, according to Manager Barker of the Bemidji team, who state- that he has secured the appear- ance of the Wadena nine 1n Be- midji on that day. Not the biggest—but one of! the biggest—fish caught in Lake| Bemigji this season was a pick-' erel taken by A, Gilmour yester- day afternoon. Mr. and ‘Mrs.: Gilmour were trolling on the east side of the lake, near the Missis- sippi outlet, when the big fish was hooked. It took half an nour to land the prize, says Mr. Gilmour, but his efforts were well worth while, for when the fish was measured it was found P to be 354 inches in length and irs weight was 18 pounds. Fire Destroys Many Buildings at Oro- ville, Cal. Oroville, Cal., Aug. 24.—A fire which for a time threatened to wipe out the entire city broke out here early in the day. Before it was under control an entire block was destroyed. Several firemen were severely injured, three of them fatally, it is believed.
