Rassmussen, general agent for the Hamm Brewing company, is visiting the agencies in this part of the state. F. O. Sibley came in from Sol- way and Island Lake today. Mr. Sibley says that town lots at Island Lake are going rapidly. Mrs. Frank Engels and chil- dren are home after a two months visit with relatives at Charles City and other Iowa and south- ern Minnesota points. Miss Rose MacDougall of Roy- alton, is visiting friends in the city, Miss MacDougall was formerly a teacher in the public schools here. ‘Wheelock & Hawkes have ship- ped 196 men to the Red River Lumber company and now try- ing to secure horses before en- gaging more men for this point. Alex Thompson of the unter- rified democracy of Crookston and Dr. A, H. Dunlop of that city | were in Bemidji this morning on their way to Dr. Dunlop’s sum- mer residence on Turtle Lake, F. A. The Turtle Riyer saw mill shut down yesterday owing to lack of logs and most of the men came to Bemidji this morning to find work with the big mill here. Noperson part- nership or corporation owning or operating any hack or hacks within the village of Bemidji shall allow or suffer the same to stand in front of any saloon in said vil- lage for more than fiye (5) minutes at any one time, between the hours of 6 o’clock a. m. and 11 o,clock p. m. Any per- son, co-partnership or principal officer of any corporation who violates or disobeys any of the provisions of this ordinance, as hereby amended shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon con- viction thereof shall be subject to a fine not exceeding $100 and cost of prosecution, or by imprison- ment not exceeding 90 days.
