M it i ft Almost Certain That RAY SCHUMAKER BIG BUNCH i 3 ‘Home- steader Was Knocked in Head and Drowned. BODY ANSWERING DESCRIPTION RECOYERED NOV. 15. Arrangements Will Be Made to Dig Up the Remains for Identification. According to very reliable in- formation, the body of a man an- swering in every detail the de- scription of Magnus I&. Wold, the Buzzle homesteader who disap- peared last fall, was taken from the Red river at Grand I'orks on| or about Nov. 15 last. The information is to the effact that about the above date the body of a man apparently 35 years of age, short, stout and i dark, was recovereil the river, Oa the man’s hea s a bruise where a heavy blow had been struck, indicating that he | had first been slugged and then thrown into the river to drown. | It will be remembered that| Wold was last seen in Grand; Forks on Nov. 9. Tt is stated| that while staying in that city he became infatuated with a womaa | who prevailed upon him to re- main in the city for several dags| longer than he had first intended. ! The story now given out is to the ! effect that the woman Jured him to the bridge, where he was set | upon and robbed of about $100| from which he had earned in the har | yest fields during the harvesting season, and that afterwards he was dumped over the bridge in- to the river, He had not seen his relatives for over 15 years and they took no action tolocate him until a contest was brought against his claim in Buzzle township, They employed Henry Funkley of Be- midji as an attorney to prosecute a search for the man, and the in- vestigation has been kept up for several months with the x-usuh.!‘ that nothing of a tangible nature has been found until yesterday, when a person who claimed to have positive information of the finding of Wold’s body in the river, arrived in the city. Since Wold’s absence from his homestead the Crookston Lum. ber company’s spur has been built and a townsite is now plat. ted on land adjoining his claim, which it is estimated is worth fully $5,000. The grave of the man found at Grand Forks will be dug up and the remains will be inspected. A woman who nursed Wold when he had his feet frozen two years ago claims thatshe can positively identify the man’s feet, -as his toe nails were badly misshapen as a result of the accident.
