THE continued rains of the spring and early summer have worked considerable injury to the 1905 crop although the dam_ | age done has not been as great "|as many believe—possibly ten per cent is an outside figure for the loss that the crop has suffered | from this cause, The condition of the crop is a matter of a good deal of concern to this immediate section al- thouzh the agricultural interests of Beltramicounty arcat present far from being its paramount i. - terests and it may safely be said thit the rain which has fallen thus far has done little or no damage to th~ crops so far as this county and this part_ of the state is concerned. But a big wheat crop iu the northwest means more money in circulation anil it meaws a larger opportun- ity for business for every busi ness man, whether he lives on the prairie or in the timber. A good crop and a good price this fall will mean a large in- direct benefit to this city ard county. The Summer School. The attendanc: at the Beltrami County Summer school promises to far outstrip all schools of the kind heretofore held in the county. This is a good sign. The instruction given in these schools constitutes a short nor- mal course which is exceedingly valuable for the teacher. Even the teacher who is a university or normal graduate does well to attend these summer sessions for they bring her closely in touch with the latest in educa- tional thought and methods. The world is constantly moving for- ward and we want our teachers to be in the van of every forward moment. The best of teaching is imperfect enough and no teacher who thinks she cannot profit by an annual brushing up in so successful an institution as the Minnesota State Summer Schoolis worthy of a place in the ranks of the state’s teaching force. THEREi_s just one way to get harmony in the republican party in Minnesota and that is to close the faces of the Dunn’s fellows that are shouting the sins of the Collins fellows and to choke to silence the Collins felllows that are so enthusiastically advertis ing the short comings of the Dunn fellows. Wanted, by the republican party a man who can do this. The governorship shall be his reward. It’sa free ficld aand a fat prize. Step up, gentle- men.
