TeE Minneapolis Journal vhis week delivers itself of a dreadful wail ever the rumor that the re- publican state central committee intends to base represeuntation in the next republican state cenven- tion upon the vote received by Robert C. Dunn for governor last November. This would give Minneapolis an awful black eye— just about the same kind of an eye that Minneapolis gave the republican state ticket last fall. # | The Journal says it is not fair to count as democrats the republi- cans who voted for John Johnson. & | It thinks however that it would be perfectly fair to count as republi- caus the thousands of democrats who voted for Theodore Roose- velt. 3 As a matter of fact the only reasonable basis for representa- tion in a republican state conven- tion is the vote at the preceeding election for the republican candi- date for governor. And itis no more than plain justice that those counties of the state which failed to support the republican state ticket last fall should have their representation in the next repub- lican state convention cut down. At the same time it will proba- bly bea wise political move to base the representation on the vote for Roosevelt inasmuch as less offense will thereby be given; and the republican party is sadly in need of harmony. 1t is not just, but it is expedient, and be- cause it is expedient it will pro- bably be done. An Open Letter. From the Chapin, S. C., News: Early in the spring my wife and I we.e taken with diarrhoea and so severe were the pains that we called a physician who prescribed for us, but his medicine failed to giveany relief. A friend who had a bottle of Chamberlain’s Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy on hand gave each of us a dose and we at once felt the effects. I procured a bottle and before using the entire cofitents ! we were entirely cured. wonderful remedy and should be onud in every household. H. C, Bailey, Editor. The sensational upward jump in the price of that option was due to a stampede | among ‘shorts, who were filled with fresh alarm at the prospects of a con- [tinuance ‘of an aggressive bull cam- paign in the May delivery. The mar- ket was comparatively quiet at the opening, with May at 583 cents. An advance of nearly 2 cents occurred early in the session on moderate buy- ing by-shorts. Toward the noon hour, however, the price made a violent leap upward, ending at 65 cents. Late ih the session the price made another upward bound to 67 cents, an adyvance of 91 cents for the day. The close was at 667 cents. BRYAN BECOMES Submits to Rapid Fire of Questions in Bennett Will Case. New Haven, Conn., May 25- —Wmhm J.
