MOTHER WEEPS AND ASKS LENI- ENCY OF JUDGE. Police Doing Good Work in Round- ing Up Youthful Offenders Of The City. Weeping bitterly, the mother of a young girl, who was arraign ed in justice court this morning on a charge of drunkenness, ask- ed that the fine be made as light as possible and promised that in the hereafter she would watch her daughter more closely. Out of smypathy for the mother, who earnsherliving by washing,Judge Pendergast fined the girl, who is 17 years of age, $2 and costs, which was paid. The youthful offender was ar rested yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock by Officer John Cline while visiting a down town saloon where, according to evidence in- troduced this morning, she had been drinking beer from a “can.” In a dispute over one of the “cans’ the girl became angry at one Lambert, and threw the beer at him. He replied by throwing a glass at her, and afterwards they both went out from the place and had a fistic encounter in which the girl came out second best. Officer Cline arrived in time to take them bothin tow and Lambert paid a fine this morning of §$10. INVESTIGATION TOMORROW when completed, will be used for lighting purposes in that es- tablishment. The factory which it is intended to erect will be of sufficient size to supply the de mands of the entire state, and salesmen to dispose of the plants will be employed. A HELP TO GOOD THINKING. The Right Cigar Makes Right Thoughts Come at the Right Time. There are a good many men in Bemidji who never start out to buy anything that may require a little bargaining without lighting acigar. Itisa fact that a good cigar helps a smoker to think and is often the means of masing a good trade. But the cigar has to be a good one, like Wadsworth Bros.’ “Chicos,” a cigar that smokes freely, with a pleasant flavor, and whose ash does not commit the unpardonable sin of coming off in littte flecks. Any one who wants a help to good thinking, should get a “Chico’ from E. A, Barker and see how it is possible to sell for Sc a cigar that is equal in quality to any 10¢ cigar ever made. Try one and seec what an aid to thought it is, as well as giving the perfect enjoyment that comes from a good smoke.
