Official Paper Village of Bemidji|wonld SUBSCRIPTION $5 PER YEAR Buford - Trenton Irrigation Project. A NEW irrigation project which promises much for the north- west is the Buford-Trenton Re- clamation project. The United States Government has set aside $550,000 for this work and the active operations will begin in side of ' sixty days. When this work is completed some 18,000 acres of now arid land will be re- claimed and the western part of North Dakota will be as attract- ive as the great valley of the Red River and the productive lands of the Mouse River Loup. - It is asserted that the proposed dam and reservoir will hold between 20,000 and 25,000 acre feet of water and the proposed canals will run north and south of the line of the Great Northern rail- way to a point about three miles east of Trenton, North Dakota, from near Buford, North Dakota, on the extreme western border of North Dakota. This is but the beginning of the extensive irrigation projects which have been planned by the government and individuals in western Da- kota and northwestern Montana, which, together with the Milk River Irrigation project, will re- claim thousands of acres for set- tlement for agricultural pur- poses which have lain barren for years, an offer and opportunity for the homeless of the east to secure homes of their own. The fact that good agricultural gov- ernment land is becoming scarcer and scarcer makes these irriga tion projects of great interest to the homeseeker and investor. gk g 222t L s 2 PBiTS ' NORTH PR COUNTRY e 2l 2 2 20 B 2B ol B B B N Great for May {lowers. g Open season for fish stories, HENRY BUENTHER Naturalist and Taxidermist 208 Second St. Postofiice Box No. 686 BEMIDJI, MINN. Va., May 28, 1903. Some years ago while at worl, T f overa truck and severely injured both of my shins. My blood became poisoned' as a xesnlt, and the doctor told me I have running sores for life, that if they were healed up the result would be fatal. Under this discouraging report I left off their treatment and re- sorted to the use of S. S. S. Its effects were prompt and gratifying. It took only a short while for the medicineto en- tirely cure up the sores, and I am not dead as the doctors intimated, nor have the sores ever broke out again. Some 12 years have elapsed since what I have de- seribed occurred. Having been sosignally benefitted by its use I can heartily recom- mend it as the one great blood purifier. JorN W. FUNDIS.
