Hyde, aged 68, who, together with her husband, aged 72, has been confined at the county poor farm for over two years, today asked thatthe re- mains of her aged spouse be bur- ied in'a pauper’slot near the poor farm. Mr. Hyde djed last night at the poor farm, old age being the cause of death. Upcn his death Overseer Sprague at once made arrangements to bury the old gentleman’s remains at Greenwood cemetary and was in the city this afternoon to make arrangements for the burial,leav- ing Mrs. Hyde at the poor farm. A’s he was about to purchase the coffin the telephone bell rang,and after he had been called to -the phone Mr. Sprague was asked not to bury the body of her hus- band at the cemetary, but rather inter the remainsin a pauper’s lot, where she might watch over the grave. Mr. Sprague explain- ed that she could watch the grave just as well at the cemetary, but the woman presisted and it is probable that her wishes will be acceded to. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon.. MUST BRING ENTIRE HIDE County Officials Will Not Issue Wolf Bounties on Scalp Alone. County Auditor Wilmann stat- ed today that the practice of is- suing wolf bounties on the pre- sentation at the auditor’s office of only the scalp of one of the animals will be discontinued. It has been customary to issue bounties on the scalp alone, but it has been found out that the practice is contrary to law and all who claim wolf bounties must present the en- tire hide in order to secure their money. COACHMAN SHOT BY THUGS. Minneapolis Doctor Held Up on His Front Porch. Minneapolis, Feb. 17.—Three masked highwaymen lying in wait upon the frout veranda of the residence of Dr. Philip Mueller leveled their revolyers at the returning physician and his coachman, Emil Rogg shot the lat- ter through the abdomen and robbed the doctor and his coachman of $50 in money and escaped ‘When Mrs. Mueller, attracted by the shooting, opened the inner vestibule door tu let her husband in a big St. Rernard housedog bounded out of the vestibule at the robbers and they pui two bullets into his body. Peoria, 111,, Feb. 17.—Not even a tel- egraph message can reach Smithfield, a village forty miles west of here, so strict is the smallpox quarantine and §0 greal is the ravage wrought by the malady. The last means of commun cation with the outside world was cut off when the telegraph office was closed by the illness of the operator.
