Deafness Cannot Be Cured by local applicatioas, as they can not reach the diseased portion of the ear. There is only one way to cure deafness, and that is by constitutional remedies Deaf- ness is caused by an inflamed condition of the mucous lining of the Eustachian tube. When this tube is inflamed you bave a rum- bling sound or imperfect hearing and when it is entirely closed, deafness is the result, and unless the inflammation can be taken out and this tube restored to its normal condition, hearing wiil be destroyed forever; nine cases out of ten are caused by catarrh, which is nothing but an inflamed condition of the mucous surfaces, We will give one hundred dol- lars for any case of deafness (caused by catarrh) that can not be cured by Hall’s Catarrh Care. —F. ' The diligent + and economical capturing, Killingand destroying of muskrats is made a substitute for road work by a bill intro- duced yesterday by Representa- tive A. D. Palmer of Ceylon. The bill is intended for the protection of roads passing through swamps and marshes or along streams and lakes, inhabited by musk- rats. Roads are often badly damaged and practically destroy- ed by the burrowing of the rodents. The bill authorizes the town overseer of roads to effect the de- struction of the muskrats in water through which the roads pass, from April 30 toNov 1. He is aunthorized to order persons liable for assessment work on the roads ‘‘to capture, kill and de- stroy” muskrats living in waters flowing against roads, “in a diligent and economical manner.” Persons hunting muskrats un- der his direction or having pos- session of the slaughtered animals or their skins are exempted from the operations of the state game laws, and are to be paid for the hunting of musk- rats the same as for other labor performed on roads. The bill is to take effect May 1, 1905. When You Have anld. a cold should be to relieve the lungs. This is best accomplished by the free use of Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy. This remedy liquefies the tongh mucus and causes its expulsion from the air cells of the lungs, produces a free expectoration, and opens the secretions. A complete cure soon follows. A Severe Cold for Thres Months, The following letter from A. J. Nus- baum, of Batesville, Ind., tells its own story: “I suffered for three months with a severe cold.
