Opsahl left last night for Kelliher in company with two gentlemen from the “southern part of the state whom he ex- pects to locate upon homesteads in the Battle River country. Mr. Opsahl says that the locating bus- iness is very good at the present time and many southern Minne- sota and Towa farmersare taking up claims in the upper courtry. J. Peterson, Jr., and son, Jul- ian, left last night for the home- stead of the elder member of the family, which is located near Ripple. From Northome they will go by foot to their destina- tion, which will necessitatej] a tramp of about 25 miles, and al- though the roads are good at the present time, the cold weather prevalent will make the trip a hard one. Aad A. Tone, the Northome at- torney and one of the county commissioners of Itasca county, passed through the city last night enroute from Grand Rap- ids, where he attended a meeting of the board of county commis- sioners, to his home at Northome. Mr. Tone says that the meeting of the Itasca county board passed off without any serious hitch in the proceedings, and even the county printing was let without arousing the ire of those inter- ested. With the smoking weapon in his hand he followed her up as she lay prostrate on the floor, bent over the writhing victim | and shot her through the head.
