Bereman was arrested last Friday and-brought to the city and his preliminary examination is in progress this afternoon be- fore Judge Pendergast. Kiein claims that Mr. Bereman has taken logs valued at $180 from his homestead near Moval Lake. Mr. Bereman has many friends in the city who donot believe him guilty of the crime and look for- ward to his early release. The result of the trial has not been given out as yet. BALANCE OF C0. Few people know that within the limits of the city of Bemidji is an Indian burying ground which was used hundreds of years ago by the Chippewas. | Yet this fact is truve, and an in- spection of the ground along the lake shoredrive|will reveal a num- ber of mounds which shelter the remains of hundreds of warriors who did battle with the fierce Sioux in days long gone by. The mounds are located about half dock and Diamond point and are on the foot path that winds along the shore.
