PIONEER PUBLISHING CO. By R. W. HITCHCOCK. ‘niered in the postoffice at Bemidjl, Minn., as second class matter. Ofticial County and City Paper SUBSCRIPTION $5 PER YEAR Bargain Day. Next Thursday the merchants of Bemidji have set apart as a day when special bargains will be offered, a day when a dollar will go further than it will on other days. This means a great deal to the people of Bemidji and the surrounding country, for prices in Bemidji average lower at all times than at any other point in northern Minnesota, while for choice and variety and completeness of stock the stores of Bemidji cannot be equalled by those of any towns much larger. Dollar Bargain Day should bring hundreds of people from outside of Bemidji to the city, The offerings that will be adver- tised for the day will be the op- portunity of the season. Watch for them. With this issue the Daily Pioneer will be sent to hundreds of farmers and resi- dents of the near by towns for a few days. Beginning with Mon- day’s issue the Pioneer will pub- lish Dollar Bargain Day offers. They will be worth looking for. Take a day off next Thursday. Come and hear some of the best speakers in the state and at the same time take advantage of opportunities in seasonable pur- chases that will save the people of this section hundreds of dol- lars, Ir 1T is true that there are re- publicans in Minnesota that in- tend to vote for the democratic nominee for governor, they should consider what effect the election of a democratic governor will have upon the party. The dem- ocrats will then have full control of all the machinery of the state and will be in a position not only to secure” the election of demo- cratic United States senators, but to perpetuate their power by the re-election of democratic governors. It will not do for re- publicans to make light of this danger, for.we can all remember but a few years ago how the state was but narrowly, and with hurculeanean efforts redeemed from democracy after the first election of John Lind. And the republican party was then fairly well united. Should republicans this year assist to defeat their own nominee the party will be [in a tleplorable state of disruption with small chance of reconcillia- tion between the warring ele- wments. Republicans should con- sider carefully what it means to bolt their party. BRYAN, in likening Parker to Moses, who was slow to speech, rapped the democratic candidate very hard. Biblical authority says Moses never entered the Promised Land. rvvvwmvvi BITS|NORTH ¥“u°"é COUNTRY m-&m.&mu The range couritry seems to be pretty well ar- ranged for R. C.
