All honor is due to Buena Vista for the first fair which has been held in Beltrami county. The county has made tine agri- cultural exhibits at the state fair but the first county fair to be held was that at Buena Vista last week., It was a small beginning but a most creditable one. Many a more thickly settled county has failed to do as well with its first agricultural exhibit and no county was ever able to make ex- hibits which spoke wore elo- quently of the richness of the soil and the variety of its re- sources. The vegetables, grains and grasses displayed at Buena Vista are unexcelled throughout the length and breadth of Minne- sota. The display was simply marvelous. Congressman Steen- erson spoke truly when he de- clared that some day, not far dis- tant, Beltrami county would be recognized as the finest farming section of the state. The first county fair was a great success and Buena Vista deserves the credit for it. Dr. L. L. MaYLAND, of Bagley Reputlican candidate for repre- sentative of this, the 61st district comprising the counties of Bel- trami, Clearwater and Red Lake, is making an active and effective canvass for the nomination. The Doctor is a native of this State, a graduate of the University of Minnesota, and has practiced medicine for the past eight years, three years of this time at Bag- ley. On his announcment cards he comes out for “Drainage, good roads, and Moses E. Clapp for U. S. Senator.” On this plat- form he expects to stand or fall. He has no hobbies, no axes to grind, represents no corporations wears no man’s coilav, is a hust- ler in every sense that the word implies, and if nominated and elected, will look after the wel- fare of his district in a way that will let his constituents know that he is on earth and looking their interests. As he comes from a county whose needs and wants are indentical with those of Beltrami, he looks for and will without a doubt receive the hearty support of the repub- lican voters of this county. after IT 1S a matter for general con- gratulation that the campaign in Beltrami county thus far has been conducted on right clean lines. There has been an oceca- sional evidence of a tendency to slop over and indulge in personalities, but in general the campaign is proving a very clean one. The candidates, without exception, so far as the Pioneer knows are treating their oppo- nents like gentlemen and are confining themselves to the legiti- mate work of putting their own |qualifications before the people rather than in speaking ill of their opponents. “YOUR MONEY IS NO GOOD” and will be refunded to you if after use ing half a bottle of : E FAMOUS MATT.J.
