PIONEER PUBLISHING CO. By R. W. HITCHCOCK. fatered in the postoffice at Bemidji, Minn, as second class matter. Official County and City Paper SUBSCRIPTION $5 PER YEAR Take Thought For Future. While the people of Minnesota are about the interesting busi- ness of choosing candidates for offices it- will be well for them to exercise more than ordinary care in the matter of men who are to make our laws next winter. There is no time like the preseny for letting candidates for the legislature know what will be expected from them in case they are nominated and elected. Thg winter will choose a successor to Senator Clapp and it will be necessary to take important far action in such momentous public questions as the primary election law, the board ‘of control idea, the re-adjustment of Minnesota’s imperfect tax system, drainage, ete. No man is fit to become a member of the legislature who has not clearly defined convie- tions upon these questions; neither is he fit if he has not the courage to tell: us what the con- victions are. Let us hear from the legis- lative candidates equivocal language. reaching in plain, un- IT cost Minnesota this sum- mer $25,000 to give 5000 teachers a four weeks training in modern methods. Most of these teachers were rural school teachers and it will be safe to say tnat the rural schools will take a big pro- fit from the state’s investment. Minnesota has been very busy the past few years giving money to its high and graded schools. If the legislature next winter will as liberal with the country schools we may confidently ex- pect see a wonderful improve- ment in the rural school system of the state. Improvement is urgently needed. THE institutional towns are getting ready for the legislature next winter by beginning a gentle rapping on the board of control. It will avail them no- thing. The institutional towns made their great fight against the interests of the state in the legislature of 1903 and were decisively beaten upon every proposition, The board of con- trol is firmly fixed as one of Minnesota’s great institutions, As the 4ime for the Minnesota state fair draws nearer it be- comes more evident that the fair will render greater service in ad- vertising the state this year than ever before. The success of the fair is established;each year now simply makes it greater. Ir some twin city papers de- voted as much time, trouble and space to the discussion of public questions as they do to search- ing out and saying mean insinua- tions about Mr. Dunn they become public benefactors. Catarrh Cannot be Cured by local applications, as they can not reach the seat of the disease. Catarrh is a blood or constitu- tional disease, and in order to cure it you must take internal remedies. Hail’s Catarrh Cure is taken internally, and acts directly ontheblood and mucous surfaces. Hall’s Catarrh Cure is not a quack medicine. It was prescribed by one of the best physicians in this country for yearsand is a regu- lar prescription. It is composed of the best tonics known, com- bined with the best blood puri- fiers, acting directly on the muc- ous surfaces. The perfect com- bination of the two ingredients is what-produces such wonder re- sults in curing Catarrh. Send for testimonials free. F.J.CHENEY & Co., Props., Toledo, O.
