The reason for this is found in the fact that 6000 people read the Pioneer every day. THE Minnesota primary elec- tion law has its enemies and they declare with truth the weakness of the law is the fact that it makes seciring a nomination expensive. They say that a man who is un- known must spend a great deal of money to make himself known and that the man who does not make himself woall known has but a slim chance of securing a nomination. All these assertions appear to be entirely true. And what of it? Wouldn’t it be better for a man to do comething to "make himself well known before he attempts to win a nomination from the people? A man who is almost unknown may be nomi- nated by the politicians under the old system—witness Judge Parker. The primary law costs the candidate -something but it is a gond law just the same. THERE is every reason to suppose that Robert C. Dunn will make the same kind ofa ‘|governor that he made a state auditor and it is this fact that is bringing Mr. Dunn support from the men of all parties. No man in Minnesota wants any better official in the governor’s chair than Mr. Dunn proved himself to be during the eight years that he was state auditor. Tu strike is another great victory for the Had the strike continued much longer the whole northwest would have suffered seriously and the after effects of the strike will now be such that they will be felt principle is very fortunate that the agree- ment to arbitrate was reached as speedily as it was. Frank M. Eppy possibly be heard from again in Minnesota politics as will not some people we know of. Frank is a good loser and the Sauk Cen- tre Herald through which Mr. Eddy thinks for the state is hurrahing for “Roosevelt, Robert, and Republicanism.” THE second monthly scoring of butter at the world’s fair results in a second complete triumph for Minnesota and it looks as ‘if Minnesota’s title as the Bread and Butter State would be offici- ally confirmed when the fairis over. GENERAL MILES says that if the temperance people would get together they would electa president. The trouble is that they keep pouring cold water on politics all the time.
