The air is full of politics. We are very busy gossiping about this man’s chances . and -that county’s vote, but we don't seem to care very much wheiher the men we choose for office fill that office for any particular good-to ourselves or not. We are appar- ently more interested in the can- didate than we are in ourselves. This is a good time to talk of issues. Itis the very best time in which to discuss matters of state, general and local, and to impress upon the men who want office the things which we need and to let them understand that these are things which we -are electing them to office for. If we can make it plain to men just what we are electing them 10 office for and they neglect to attend to that business after they are elected most of them have sence enough to know what will But just now we elected. Let the people unpx ove theu' _ opportunity. BvERY now and then some " northern Minnesota town gives Bemidji a sly dig or a bold thrust as to its wickedness.~ A good deal of it is deserved too, though h sa_sflma_smhll towns would the beams out of their own eye.s ‘before attempting the motes in Bemidji. The truth is that Be- mtidji has been frank in its wick- edness while our carping friends areare content to play the hypo- crite. — There ‘are few towns and cities in northern Minnesota or anywhere else that are quite ready for the millennium. THE St. Paul Dispatch says that Judge Collins and Public Examiner Johnson are on most friendly terms. Mr. Johnson will be a pretty hard pill for some of Judge Collins’ friends to sal- low. 2 THE Minnesota farmer’s ex- change, or trust, as you please, with a capital of . half a million dollars is a fact. Let’s hope that this trust wont bust. It 1S said that an attempt will ~ be made to butt Beltrami county up against a stone wall'at the re- publican state convention--just like it was at Crookston. Tur Aitkin Age accuses State brarian Nelson of having trans- formed himself into a circulating b\ru‘y of Collins literature. The ’ke pays the freight. Evidently the weather man has not been “seen.’’ Polk county-is all-torn-up with 300 miles of ditchés. The Crow Wing river is said to be spreading itself. Brainerd re-elects Supt. Havt- ley and 55 other teachers. Perley, dry, plans a pipe line from Georgetown, wet. The Bagley Times grows bet- ter as the days grow lojger. Cuba has a Nurwe,‘zin‘u.. candi- date for superintendentof schools of Becker county. The Red river valley harvests the usual spring crop of com- plaints about the lateness of seed time. The Pine Tree Blaze is red hot whenever it thinks of the candi- dacy of John King of Waller for railway - and warehcuse com- missioner. The retiring mayor of Crooks- ton accuses the incoming mayor of appointing a lot of jays to office. The new appointees are all bless- ed with John for a given name. Wheelock’s /Weekly’s printer man votes the city clerk of Fer- gus Falls a salary of $12,000 but, worse luck for the clerk, the printer man is not in a position to-draw the warrants. Meyer: “I see the board of health is going to make every- body get busy and clean up. We will manage to keep busy, and I have noticed that-when we anticipate a light meeting there is always something to keep us grinding until a late hour.” “The Russo-Jap” war is a sub- ject of the most intense interest at ‘the present time and the Biascope company which will present for the first time in this city pictures of some of the land and sea fights of the great strug- glein the east promises some- thing in the line of popular amusement that will appeal strongly to the general public. In an age of wonders there is nothing more entertaining than the wonderfully real and life like pictures which are presented by the ~aid of the great tele-photo lense. It makes the entire world a spectator to some of the most wonderful events of modern times. —Its entertainments are interesting and instructive and a refreshing rest after a surfeit of farce comedy &nd popular dra- matic attractions in a vein that appeals less to the intellectual. The entertainments - of the Biascope company are something that_every one should see. A broader and a more intelligent conception of events with which everyone should be familiar will be possible after ‘an evening spent at this entertainment.
