The Crookston Lumber Co.’s camp situated in the village will remain for several weeks yet. David Long, the well known Jumber woods chief is in town. He has been getting up good things for the boys at one of the Crogisston Lumber Co.’s camps for the past two months. “Tallow Dips,”’ Robert Park- ery Miles’ lecture at the M. E. church last night was quite largely attended and was one of the most pleasing entertain- ments of the course which it con- cluded. R. L. Baumbach, of Wadena, arrived in the city last night and will have the bookkeepe.’s desk at the Lumbermen’s bank. Mr. Baumbach is a cousin of Presi- dent Baumbach and is a clever young gentleman, who will no doubt be popular with the patrons of the bank." DR. FOSTER DENTIST MILES BLOCK. The regular meeting of the city council last night did not de- velop anything of more than or- dinary interest. The council went through the usual routine business and took an early ad- journment. Editor Martin is very much improved this morning. Mr. Martin will be confined to his home for some time yet and his physicians say that rest and quiet for a time is necessary to his speedy recovery. He is now past all danger, however. Dan Fullerton, the well known trainer, will leave for Park Rap- ids as soon as the track there is in shape, with the string of har- ness horses which he'is handling at present. Mr. Fullerton will handle J. M. Wonzor's Be- midji Bill, J. P, Duncalf’s Harry H, Mr. Crawford’s Hub- butt, Jr., and J. J. Jinkinson’s Mona. Undertaker Naylor goes to Funkley tonight to prepare the remains of a child for burial who died there yesterday. The body will be shipped to McIntosh. A. A. Carter is superintending the work of constructing the broom handle factory at Nary and a force of men have been working there for some time. The local lodge of Knights of Pythias has a regular meeting to- night. There are two candidates for the first rank but degree will probably —not— be conferred tonight. Martin Heinzelman, the well known Lake Itasca man, is in the city today. Mr. Heinzelman is superintending the government survey,-which-is-now working near the headwaters of the Miss- issippi. Hugh McMillan is down from came the Blackduck country today. He has been operating several cedar camps in the Blackduck country for the past several months and has had a highly satisfactory winter. F. A. Peterson, a former resi- dent of Bemidjl, whonow has his home at New Rickland’ Minn., is in the city looking after his busi- ness interests here. his removal from Bemidji and thinks of returning. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Casler re- turned last night from a two weeks’ visit with friends in the central part of the state. Mr. Casler reports that they had a very enjoyable trip and says everybody seems to beinterested in Bemidji. The village election at Solway today isa warm affair. Solway has not been behind the other towns in this section in the mat- ter of being wide open. An agi- tation has been started for a less liberal policy and is the cheif is- sue of today’s election. The Bazaar store expects to be open for business the latter part of this week or the first of next. ’I‘he adjustment of the loss made by the insurance adjuster is pending acceptance by all the compnnios interested and a set- tlement was expected today or tomorrow. The Ladies’ Reading Club met yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Wm. McCuaig.
