The Bemidji Daily Pioneer VOLUME 1. ONE DOLLAR WHEAT “PRICE OF THE CEREAL IN"SAM-| PLEROOM OF THE CHICAGO - BOARD OF TRADE. STIMULATES FIGURES IN THE PIT ADVANCE DUE TO INCREASING EVIDENCE OF THE IMMI- NENCE OF WAR. Chicago, Feb. 4.—One dollar wheat in the sampleroom of the board of trade became an actuality during the’ day. The fact that the price which has long been the dream of the farm- er had -again been attained gave added -stinmulus- to the efforts of the bull leaders in the pits and shortly after the dollar mark was reached in the sampleroom prices in the wheat, corn and oats pits established new records, eclipsing previous high marks for the year. WHEAT ADVANCES TWO CENTS. Due to Armour Manipulation and Far| Eastern Crisis. Chicago, Feb.” 4—An advance of 2% to 215 cents a bushel was made during the day in the price of wheat. The May option sold up to 94% cents. The closing price the previous day was 915 to 913 cents. Manipulation of the market by Armour interests was credited with being a leading cause of the sharp 'advance, but a reason of perhaps greater potency was the ‘in- creasing evidence of the imminence of war in the Orient. The close was at 93% and 93% cents. Other ecereal markets jumped even more excitedly to new high rec- ord prices for the season. The May delivery of corn showed a gain of 314 .cents a bushel. The option touched 55 cents, and the close was practically at the top. Oats advanced 13 to 114 cents, sell- ing at 461 for May delivery. Provi- sions shared in the general advance. Sénator Hanna is reported petter, though he passed a poor night. His temperature reached 102 at one time during the night. " oo 2 NUMBER 243. MANY PERSONS INJURED.
